St Ives: A Day in the Life
Here at Cornish Escapes, we love nothing more than waking up to the warm Cornish sunrise and the feel of the sea breeze on our skin. If you have ever wondered what it feels like to live in a coastal, surfers paradise town then look no further, here is what our perfect day looks like…
Wake up and smell the coffee!
Dreaming of waking up to the sound of crashing waves and the smell of the sea? No problem. Our bright and colourful ‘4 Porthmeor Court’ is seconds away from the beach – that is enough time to run out to see the sunrise whilst the kettle boils!
As breakfast time strikes, a relaxed five minute walk is enough to get you ready for a delightful breakfast at Porthmeor Beach Café, where the options will have you licking your lips. The choice of building your own English breakfast or opting for something a little more light, like yoghurt and granola, makes this the perfect breakfast spot.

Get creative
Walking around St Ives town is a treat in itself; the cobbled streets and the iconic Cornish seagull squawk bring all of the holiday feels. Investing in St Ives culture is a great way to spend the day and to learn more about the town’s rich history; where art holds a significant importance. The Barbra Hepworth Museum explores Hepworth’s iconic sculptures and tells her story as being one of St Ives’ icons.
Midday Feast
In the heart of St Ives, The Balcony has one of the best views. With panoramic windows covering the entire bay of St Ives, as well as a sneak to Godrevy Lighthouse, Porthminster Beach and the Harbour. If that is not a motivation, wait until you see their menu… Burgers, tacos and small plates. Who can say no to a taco in the sunshine? With allergens and dietary requirements in mind, your needs are taken all care of!
A walk with the pooch
Breakfast is done, you have indulged in the art and culture and sat overlooking the bay for lunch; now the pooch wants their fun! After making sure suncream is applied, a walk along the coastal paths to see the wildlife and Kernow’s plant kingdom is the perfect way to slow down the day. Our favourites include the Zennor Coastal walk, where you can go to The Tinners for a mid-afternoon Cider or an ice cream at MooMaids.
Or, for something a little more closer to home, the Porthminster to Carbis Bay walk will take you right over to Carbis Bay Beach; visiting the home of the G7 Summit 2021. The train at the end of the walk will take you right back home, to St Ives’ train station (a chance for you to catch your breath!)

Finishing the day
Winding down for the night ahead after a busy day is essential. The Sloop Inn on the harbour front is the oldest pub in St Ives, known for its pirate-like décor and their Cornish selection of drinks; such as Rattler, Tarquin’s Gin, Korev and Offshore Pilsner. With a bowl of chips, your pooch and a drink by your side, time stops as you sit there finally at ease on your holiday.
