Mounts Bay Food and Drink
If you’re staying in Mount’s Bay, you’ll be seriously spoiled for choice when it comes to dining out. From cosy pubs to upmarket restaurants, Mount’s Bay has an appetite-whetting array of places to eat. Prefer to keep it relaxed? You’ll find a pasty bakery or fish & chip shop everywhere you turn.
Eating out in Marazion
If you like your food with a view, there’s nowhere quite like The Godolphin Arms in Marazion. Located right off the beach and at the head of the causeway, the views of the Mount from the Godophin are incredible. Marazion does well for pubs: there’s also the King’s Arms, the Cutty Sark, and at the top end of the town, the Fire Engine Inn. For a friendly welcome and lots of tummy takeout treats, the Copper Spoon is always worth a call.
There are also some great places just outside Marazion. Longrock runs between Marazion and Penzance, and is home to a fantastic dining pub, The Mexico Inn. Head east to Perranuthnoe and treat yourself to a meal in the cosy Victoria Inn, or pop into the Pepperpot Cafe.
Restaurants and pubs in Penzance
There’s an incredible choice of excellent restaurants in Penzance, many of which make the most of the daily catch from Newlyn. Mermaid Alley and The Shore are the places to try for that special occasion, serving exquisitely prepared food. Other favourites include The Bakehouse and the Old Lifeboat House Bistro. Fancy Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai, French? You’ll find all these, and more, in Penzance.
It’s also a very good pub town. The Dolphin Inn (near the harbour) is always a good bet for classic pub food as is The Navy Inn a bit further along the prom, and if you like your meal in quirky surroundings, head for the Admiral Benbow on historic Chapel Street. Looking for a cafe? The Honey Pot, the Orangery, Archie Brown’s, Tremenheere Kitchen, The Front Room, Maria Chica… Honestly, you’ve picked the best town around for coffee and a slice of cake (and of course, the Cornish cream tea).
Places to eat in Newlyn & Mousehole
As you’d imagine, Newlyn is a great place to come for fish! Try Mackerel Sky for perfect fish and chips and delicious little taster plates. The Tolcarne Inn serves sophisticated fish dishes in an historic maritime pub. For a good range of food, including great veggie choices, head upstairs to the cafe at Newlyn Filmhouse. And, you simply can’t leave Newlyn without a famous Jelbert’s ice cream…
Little Mousehole has a lot of excellent places to eat for such a small village. The Old Coastguard and 2 Fore Street are its best-known eateries, both in great locations and serving gorgeous local produce. Mousehole Deli & Kitchen on the harbour is a good place to pick up your picnic, or if you’re simply after a cuppa and some cake, The Rock Pool Cafe is one the cutest cafes around. Don’t forget to call into the Ship Inn, home of the legendary stargazy pie.
