Top Escape Rooms in Cornwall
Are you ready for a challenge on your Cornish holiday? There are some fabulous, brain-testing escape rooms to try here in Cornwall, and we love this fun new form of entertainment!
Our name suggests that we’d be good at this – but the Cornish Escapes team has to confess to finding these locked-in quests rather challenging… Still, we’ve managed to break free to put together a guide to the best escape rooms in Cornwall.
What is an “escape room”?
For the uninitiated, an escape room is an organised team game where everyone has to work together to solve clues and “escape” from the locked room. The small team of players is locked in a themed room and must solve the puzzles to be let out – against the clock.
It’s great fun, and you’ll certainly see a different side to your friends and family as you strive to find the treasure, diffuse the bomb or uncover the killer.
Here are some of our local venues so you can have a go yourselves – then enjoy a relaxing evening in your very own Cornish Escape…
Escape Time St Ives
Where: St Ives TR26 2DN
Suitable for families? Yes (accompanied children aged 8 and over)
Minimum group size: 2
Maximum group size: 7 (larger groups can be accommodated)
Number of rooms: 2
Duration: 1 hour
Website: https://www.escapetimestives.co.uk/
Our local escape room in St Ives currently has two themed rooms to choose from. We love the Cornish-themed Lost Treasure of Pirate Kernow, or perhaps you want to catch the notorious serial killer, the Slayer of St Ives? If you’re with your kids, we recommend the former – as you can imagine, the latter is a bit gory.
In the centre of St Ives and close to a car park (Park Avenue), this is an easy way to entertain your family or friends on your Cornish holiday.
Enigma Escape Cornwall
Where: Truro TR1 2PN
Suitable for families? Yes (accompanied children aged 8 and over)
Minimum group size: 2
Maximum group size: 6
Number of rooms: 3
Duration: 60-90 minutes
Website: https://www.enigmaescapecornwall.co.uk/
If you love a proper brainteasing puzzle, head for Truro and The Bletchley Test escape room at Enigma Escape. Could you be a WWII code breaker? There’s a second WWII-themed room, due to close in September 2025 – the mystery here is what will replace it… Alternatively, book a longer 90-minute session with the super-scary Fear of the Unknown room, an immersive horror story that’s not suitable for under 13s.
Again, the location itself is eerie, this time in the basement of an eighteenth-century building on Lemon Street.
Locked In Cornwall
Where: Camborne TR14 7DB
Suitable for families? Yes
Minimum group size: 2
Maximum group size: 7
Number of rooms: 2
Duration: 1 hour
Website: https://www.lockedincornwall.com/
If you’re a rookie Escapee or have young children with you, try the Puzzle Room at Camborne’s Locked In Cornwall. There’s an hour of mystery-solving, which while still challenging, is a great introduction to the world of escape rooms. Locked In also has a themed room, The Smoke House Curse (over 13s only).
Locked In Cornwall has an easy-to-find location (with parking) in Camborne Business Centre. You’re close to the Cornish Oven bakery if you need a reviving pasty afterwards.
