Padstow

Whatever you want from a Cornish coastal holiday, you’ll find it in Padstow. Its pretty harbour and world-class restaurants make the perfect backdrop for a romantic getaway, while Padstow’s fabulous beaches are ideal for family holidays. Love the great outdoors? Padstow is on some great walking and cycling routes, and there are plenty of water sports centres nearby.

The town lies on one side of the sheltered Camel Estuary on Cornwall’s beautiful North Coast. It’s a popular holiday spot and of course, famous foodie destination; however its busyness adds to its appeal rather than overwhelming it. The bustling little town is full of independent shops and galleries, with a maze of old streets that meander up the hill to Prideaux Place.

Its working fishing harbour brings a lively feel to the town as well as a daily catch. Pick up fish and chips from Stein’s takeaway, and eat them by the boats, looking out across the estuary (and keeping an eye on those peckish gulls). A-lister hangout Rock is just across the water: catch a ferry boat over from Padstow for a spot of lunch and celeb spotting.

Fancy a dip in the sea or a picnic on the shore? Walk along the springy grass of the coast path along the estuary, where you’ll find your choice of sandy beaches. It may be a cliche, but Padstow really does have something for everyone.
