Finding the Perfect Cornish Escape for Your Family Celebration
It all sounds idyllic: the whole family together for the first time in ages, all under one roof in beautiful Cornwall. It will take some planning, but we are here to help.
If you are the family organiser…The Cornish Escapes team is here to make sure your reunion, get-together or celebrations run smoothly. Here is our guide to finding the perfect place for everyone.
Which type of holiday accommodation suits your family?
Who will be coming away with you? People of all ages love a seaside holiday and with its many beautiful beaches and visitor attractions, Cornwall is the ideal destination for a multi-generation break. Our family-friendly holiday homes are designed with kids in mind, while our generous large properties have the room you need for bigger gatherings and family parties.
Once you have finalised the numbers, it is time to choose your perfect property. If you are a smaller family group, we have a collection of postcard-perfect Cornish cottages which make wonderful retreats. Central St Ives apartments with coastal views are an excellent option if you plan on dining out.
Our rural escapes are lovely places for family or friends’ reunions: just you and your nearest and dearest, getting the chance to spend time together in a comfortable country house or cottage. These rural retreats are especially good if your group includes young children and pets who need plenty of space!
For a milestone celebration, treat your party to a memorable holiday in one of our luxurious contemporary-style properties, where you can stay and entertain in five-star comfort.
What features do you need in your Cornish holiday cottage?
What features would you like in your accommodation? A hot tub in the garden is a lovely extra detail, as is a sauna or a local spa pass.
Sea view windows or balconies help you make the most of your beautiful Cornish surroundings. If you are in a large group, separate living areas help everyone relax: we have accommodation with media rooms, games rooms, studies and outdoor kitchens to make sure there is plenty of space for the whole party.
As well as these luxurious extras, what about the must-haves? Some of our guests look for a holiday home with parking, for example, or you might need a ground-floor bedroom or an enclosed garden. If you have any specific requirements, please have a chat with one of the Cornish Escapes team.
Practical details can include family-friendly layouts (zip’link beds make rooms really adaptable) and baby equipment: no need to weigh the car down with a travel cot or highchair, and many properties offer a stair gate for your stay. If your party includes four-pawed family members, take a look at our selection of fabulous dog-friendly cottages.
What would make your celebration extra special?
If your stay includes an occasion such as a birthday, make the holiday even more memorable by dining out in one of Cornwall’s many exceptional restaurants. You can book yourselves onto all sorts of bespoke adventures, from SUP tours of St Ives Bay to foraging walks, pottery workshops to surfing lessons.
You can also celebrate in the comfort of your holiday accommodation with a meal cooked by a private chef: Guests are always impressed by Robert Michael who runs Flavour & Wine. Many of our properties have plenty of space for a private party in luxurious surroundings, where you and your loved ones can really relax and enjoy your time together: a Cornish Escapes home is far more than simply a place to stay.

What time of year is your getaway?
While you are unable to choose the time of year of a birthday or anniversary celebration, you can choose the best accommodation for the season.
Spring comes early to Cornwall, and our gardens are already in bloom by this time of year. If you are coming down for an Easter break or spring celebration, look out for holiday cottages with gardens and outdoor dining where you can enjoy an al fresco drink together.
In the summer, choose a holiday home that is just a pebble’s throw from the sea in St Ives or Carbis Bay. Features such as outdoor showers and space for wetsuits, boards and bikes make summer stays a breeze. You can find out more about our glorious coastline in our guide to St Ives beaches.
For an autumn or winter holiday, we have a lovely collection of cottages with wood burners. Think family meals around the large kitchen table, wave-watching from cosy window seats and warming fireside drinks.
